Customer Reviews

Beats every other screw extraction tool I have tried several tools for removing stripped and rusted screws from wood - regular pliers, vise grips, and screw extractors. None of them work very well but the Vampliers screw extractor pliers worked great. As soon as I received this tool, I tested it on my deck and did not have any problems removing rusted screws. The secret is that these pliers have grooves that go in both directions so the screw head does not spin in the grooves of the pliers - simple, but something I have never seen on pliers before.I strongly recommend the VT-001 Vampliers Screw Extraction Pliers!!! 5didn't work for meI must have the only pair that stripped the 1st time used them and it was past the 30 day return window......1Would not recommend.Don t understand why all the positive reviews. First time I used these to back out a stripped screw from a bicycle rim, they stripped instead. The steel seems awfully soft. Would not recommend.1Love it. Great valueI'm not a handyperson at all, but this has fixed all of my nightmare screw issues. I bought it originally to remove a stripped screw from my IKEA half-built product--I had to search online for how to do this, tried other methods, and spent several days in a panic that I just blew $600 bucks thanks to a single screw. When this baby arrived, my screw was out in minutes! I've been able to use it to remove intentionally damaged screws (like opening my apartment window full length as opposed to the restricted length, and fix things around the place that I wouldn't have bothered with. Love it. Great value!5AWESOME AWESOME- a must have for vintage trailer workUpdate:for me; i noticed after removing qty 200 of 50 year old #6 sheet metal screws the pliers started to fail. However the saving of time is worth it!I feel in most cases you're using them to remove fasteners that other tools can't, and saving time by not using more tools together (many steps)= lots more time and the possibility to damage the connected parts or self personal injury.VamPLIERS are high carbon stainless steel- very well made, it will fail after much use or abuse. The math for my use, cost me 18 cents and <30 seconds of time to remove each fastener with no damage to connected parts = 2 hrs hrs of time. vs. Before the VamPliers I removed a qty 14 of the same fasteners with a dremel, personal safety gear and many other hand tools at ground level. getting on a ladder to do this 200 more times= no way.a great review to read is:The 5 star Review By J. Kauffman on May 31, 2013 Wow, something that actually works!the Vampliers actually do what they say they can do! 5Perfection!!!I severely stripped a screw while putting together an Ikea desk. The screw would not budge & i was afraid of losing the screw (or damaging the desk) to further damage using a different screw removal method. These Vampliers worked perfectly and instantly!!!! I could not believe it. It gripped the tiny but edge of the screw left very tightly and i just turned the screw to the left and the it twisted out so easily. I used the Vampliers it to remove another screw that was borderline stripped (yes, i used a drill to put together the furniture). These pliers are worth every penny. Now i need to find more things to use these pliers on.5A high quality item that works This item is as described. It's quite pricey. I tried three different screw remover tool sets before ordering this. It didnt work for me only because where the stripped screw is located there is no room on either side to get this tool to grip the screw and turn. I would need the needlenose type, but I could only find that size in a two-pack and just don't see that I would have an extended use for this outside of one or two times maybe in my life, so not worth the investment. I believe, for a professional handyman this is a Must-have item in their tool kit! It is high quality, well-made, not a flimsy tool and would hold up well to multiple, continued use. 4I tried to loosen the screw with all my might using good screwdrivers but I just ended up rounding out all ...I order stuff from Amazon all the time and this is one of the only times that I have entered a review because I was so impressed with this product. My wife ordered a new dryer last weekend and the door opened backwards and the hardware needed to be swapped. I did almost all of this but a single bolt would not budge as it was apparently tightened by Godzilla or one of his relatives and it stopped my entire flow. I tried to loosen the screw with all my might using good screwdrivers but I just ended up rounding out all of the threads on the bolt head. I then turned to my not so trusty collection of screw extraction tools, drilled out the center of a bolt, and succeeded in inserting an extractor tap into the screw which then broke at the top of said bolt and made it impossible to drill into ever again. My wife threatened my life over ruining her day old dryer and I begged for mercy as I was not sure how to remove this solitary screw, I then promised her that I would complete the job the following day, or else. I purchased left handed bits. a new extraction kit, a generic rotary tool in case I needed to go full caveman style extraction and a single pair of $26 pliers. I also thought that $26 for a single pair of pliers is disgusting and outlandish at the time but they now have my love and respect. When I got home from work to remove said bolt I instantly broke a LH drive bit and another existing ex-out set.I then opened these pliers, grabbed the outside of the round head bit and it turned...the freaking bolt turned. There were no gimmicks, no blood blisters on my hands, no do-overs. The bolt broke and turned on the first try. Vise Grips failed, normal pliers failed, extractors failed, quality screwdrivers failed. I could feel my stress drop immediately and peace returned to my life. My prayers were answered if only momentarily. I cannot recommend this product enough, $26 is steep for a small pair of pliers but if they work as advertised (as they did) then I am a huge fan!5Great product for getting out screws from a carburetor! Highly recommend!I was working on a 2003 Polaris Predator that I haven't ridden in about 4 years. I figured it needed to be jetted (Clean Carburetor, etc.) I started to unscrew the bowl of the carb. and the screws were soft and tight as I ended up stripping the screws on 3 out of the 4 screws. I didn't want to damage them anymore so I research a solution which basically you'd have to grind out a flat head area on the screw to create a better/stronger for for a flat head to fit in. I did not really want to do that so I ordered a pair of these Vampliers and was I surprised at how well they worked. They grip the screw and take a great bite so you don't slip like the screw driver did. Great product for getting out screws from a carburetor! Highly recommend as I'm not sure how long they'll last which I'm sure after many uses over time could lose the teeth but even a one time use is worth it for me.5Best $30 I've ever spentI bought a ceiling fan/light that had the screws pre-inserted; to build the fan you unscrewed them and rescrewed them. Actually not a bad idea, except for one stubborn (plus head) screw. I tried several plus-head screwdriver sizes, by hand and with my drill, and did the same with flat head bits. All I did was succeed in stripping the screw more and more, with greater and greater amounts of exceptionally unladylike invective. The rubber band technique didn't work. I didn't want to try to drill it out and extract it, since it was already screwed into the fan. Online sleuthing and product reviews on Amazon (you reviewers rock, thank you so much) turned this up. I mean, the name is just adorable enough to buy the pliers IMO, but $30 was a bit steep for "adorable." It took a few tries, but the pliers were small enough to get into a tight spot, REALLY latched on tightly, and stayed that way until I could torque that little mother out... and I'm a major weakling. I've had to deal with stripped screws before and they're annoying AF, so I am super-happy to have these guys in my toolkit. Ten stars!Pros:Adorable nameManeuverable sizeSuper-clampy-fangy-no-slip grip on screwInvective-freeThey seriously workCons:Who spends $30 on a pair of pliersI spent $30 on a pair of pliers and don't regret it one bit5Just don't plan on using them more than a few times thanks to very soft steelI was thrilled when I first tried these, and figured I'd be buying several sets as Christmas gifts. They absolutely do the job- at first. While they're very effective when new, the steel is far too soft for the job. Mine are completely worn out after just a few weeks and not all that much use- a handful of #8 screws in wood (with a fair amount of rot, at that), so it's hardly a worst-case scenario. I contacted Vampire Tools, who were very quick and responsive, and said they'd send a replacement out that same day. Ah, well, I figured, suppose I'd be happy with the durability at a two-for-one price. That was two weeks ago, and no sign of my replacement yet. Count me considerably less impressed.2absolute garbageThese pliers are just the right shape for grasping the head of a stripped screw, but that's where they stop. The steel of the jaws is so soft that it just scars itself as it uselessly rotates around the screw. Great design, poor manufacture. For this price I expected something better...or at the very least, something functional.1A 6 Hour Headache Fixed. Good to Have for ComputersI honestly didn't think these would help with a problematic M2 slot SSD screw in my computer's motherboard. We have about 100 screwdrivers at home but they all apparently suck or the screw was just shoddy from the start. I spent 6 hours trying various methods to unscrew the screw to fit my new M2 SSD but I couldn't even get it to loosen. The screw head ended up worn out and since computer parts are expensive, I didn't want to risk putting a drill in there to remove and damage such a small screw. These pliers got the screw out in 10 seconds! They didn't slip at all grabbing it and I thought they would be too big for the M2 screw but they still worked. I might order the small version of these later since I'll be working with computers a lot. Definitely a headache saver and I probably won't be using anymore screwdrivers. Although this screw is very small, it's also magnetized to stay in place so I used the pliers to screw it back in. I definitely recommend these.5
